Jinmi Pyongyang Naengmyeon – A Michelin-Recognized Cold Noodle Gem in Gangnam
Looking for a truly local food experience in Seoul? If you’re curious about Korean cold noodles—but not just any cold noodles—then Jinmi Pyongyang Naengmyeon in Gangnam should be on your list.
This humble noodle house has been featured in the Michelin Guide for five consecutive years (2020–2024). That's right—this spot is not just famous locally, it’s globally recognized for serving authentic Pyongyang-style naengmyeon.
What We Ordered
- 2 bowls of Pyongyang Naengmyeon
- 1 plate of boiled pork slices (je-yuk)
Naengmyeon here is surprisingly addictive. The broth is clean and deeply flavored, made from beef stock, yet it never feels heavy. I wasn’t a naengmyeon fan before—but this one totally won me over. I finished the entire bowl (what Koreans call “wan-naeng” – 완냉).
The je-yuk, which is basically sliced boiled pork similar to Korean bossam, was decent but not a standout. If you’re looking for a more memorable side, locals recommend trying the Eobok Jengban (어복쟁반), a hot pot dish often paired with drinks.
Best For
- Travelers looking for unique Korean traditional food
- Michelin restaurant collectors on a budget
- Foreigners who want to try authentic Pyongyang-style noodles
Final Thoughts
Jinmi Pyongyang Naengmyeon isn’t just about cold noodles—it’s about discovering a quieter, more traditional side of Korean cuisine. It’s also very affordable, making it a great stop for both tourists and locals. If you’re in Gangnam and curious about Korean heritage dishes, this is a must-visit.
